Modern Fertility*

You don't have to go into a lab to have this done. It is a finger stick blood test you can do at home on Day 2 or 3 of your cycle. Use Dr. Darragh's link* to receive $10 off of the price of the bundled tests ($149).

Tests Included:

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH): This is released by cells around your follicles and is used to assess ovarian reserve. You can test this while on hormonal birth control.
Estradiol: This is a sex hormone produced by the ovaries.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone: This hormone is responsible for stimulating the growth and maturation of the follicles that hold your eggs.
Luteinizing Hormone: This hormone stimulates ovulation and helps to regulate the length of your cycle.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone: This is produced by your pituitary gland and stimulates your thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones (T4, T3).
Free Thyroxine (FT4): This is produced by the thyroid gland and is necessary for fertility.
Prolactin: This hormone stimulates milk production and if it is too high can alter fertility.
Testosterone: This hormone aids in the growth and repair of tissues and is needed for ovarian health, but if it is too high can alter fertility.

PROOV*

PROOV is an at-home, FDA cleared, urine test assessing for PdG (pregnanediol glucuronide), a metabolite of progesterone, that can help determine if you have ovulated and if your progesterone levels stay elevated during the luteal phase (2nd half) of your menstrual cycle.

Proov strips give a positive result when PdG is at least 5 mcg/mL, which correlates to ~10 ng/mL of progesterone in serum.

It is available in 5, 9, and 18 strip packs.

Steps:

Use an OPK to determine your LH surge.
Starting 7 days post-ovulation and continuing through 10 days post-ovulation pee (first-morning urine) into a clean, dry plastic or glass container each day.
Dip a Proov strip (only the absorbent portion) into your first-morning urine until you start to see it rise into the test window (5-10 seconds).
Wait 5 minutes. 1 distinct line indicates a positive test. 2 distinct lines indicate a negative test.
If your test is positive, you can feel confident that ovulation has occurred, and you may want to continue testing for a few more days to see if your progesterone levels stay elevated or drop off. If your test is negative, you have valuable information to share with your provider.
